The work
The work you can go after
Most of your customers will be other businesses: a kitchen with a greasy canopy, a butchery with a bandsaw, a fleet yard with vehicles that cannot go through a car wash. EcoSteam does not supply customers.
The work is physical, and it is early or late, because a kitchen is cleaned when it is closed. The skill is in reading a surface and knowing which jobs to turn down, and that is what we train you on.
What you need besides the steamer:
- A vehicle you can load it into on your own, or a helper.
- Water, which on some sites you bring yourself.
- An extension lead that reaches the only plug they will let you use.
- Brushes, nozzles and the right tool for each surface.
- Public liability cover, and a way of quoting you can stand behind.
- On food premises, enough understanding of your customer's cleaning record to add to it properly.
Water
A few litres of water, and a bakkie
Less chemical stock to finance. The steam itself needs no chemical.
Some models can also inject detergent. Either way, you are not buying a shelf of product before your first customer.
The steamers
Four steamers that suit someone starting out
Choose by the work you can get, the power on the sites you go to, and what you can lift at six in the morning.
Electric, three-phase and single-phase
Optima
EST
The only electric Optima that does not need three-phase, in its 05K size. Allow 21 to 23 minutes for it to heat.
74 to 83 kg weight
6 to 23 min to heat up
40 L water tank
Diesel
Optima
XDm
Diesel, 52 kg, for the bakkie
The lightest diesel unit. It carries its own water and fuel, so it suits mobile work: a fleet yard, a building site, an outdoor job.
52 kg weight
3 min to heat up
11 L water tank
Electric, single-phase
Steam Italy
INOX 8000XL
Professional, 34.5 kg
The one to look at if the work is interiors: upholstery, vehicles, tile and grout. 34.5 kg, with a 10 bar boiler.
34.5 kg weight
3 min to heat up
5 L water tank
Electric, single-phase
Steam Italy
INOX 6000
Steams and vacuums, 37 kg
The steamer to grow into. It steams and vacuums in one unit off an ordinary plug, for regular work in kitchens, butcheries and guest houses.
37 kg weight
4 min to heat up
5 L water tank
When your steamer arrives, we train you on it. The people who train you have done specialised cleaning since 2001. Every steamer carries a 12-month factory warranty, with maintenance plans and after-sales service in major cities.

Questions
Whether this suits you
You own your business and your steamer. We supply the steamer, the training and the support.
What does a steamer cost?
We quote every steamer for the work it will do, because the right one depends on the jobs you plan to take and the power on those sites. Tell a specialist what you plan to clean and you'll get a recommendation and a quote.
How much can I charge, or make?
We do not publish earnings figures. What you charge depends on your area, your customers and your costs, and only you can put a number on those.
Tell us what you are up against.
Tell us what you plan to clean and the power on the sites you will work on. A specialist will take you through the steamers that suit the work, and quote them.
